Boot up - bad screen

Hi all, When booting from cold start, the first screen shows memory etc. Good so far. Then when the computer goes to the screen for Windown XP, all I get is a lot of colored lines, sort of like the snow on a TV. I have a RAID @. The RAID is good according to the computer. I am using Windows XP Pro. Any suggestions where to start? Or should I just start form scratch and reinstall Windows?
Thanks

Are you able to boot into safemode? Hit F8 immediately before Windows starts to load to bring up the safe mode prompt.

Another option which may help you beside formatting is just "refreshing" your current install. Boot from the Windows XP CD like you are going to install Windows. Hit enter with the first menu. Just make sure you don't repartition your drives and follow the install procedures and it should leave all of your settings and programs intact, just with all your Window's files replaced.

Sounds like your video card may be having issues if you're experiencing wierd colored lines. Have a spare you can test with?

If you see streaks, bars, snow or the like, your video card will be suspect. Swap out with a spare, if available and boot again.

I purchased a new video card. When I boot I get C:\Windows\System32\Congig\System is corrupt.
I booted to my Windows CP CD, qnd when I try to repair, I get a selection of 1 D:\ or 2 C:\. My boot drive is C: so when I select 2, the system hangs.
When I reboot and try a reinstall of Windows, it hangs when "checking to see if previous Windows installed."
If I go into the RAID , the RAID comes up as "Healthy".
Any suggestions as to get this system up & running again?
Thanks

Maybe you can do the basics on bootup. Disconnect everything else and just boot with main drive only.
All these problems occurred after you put in the new video card? or not?
