Hi everybody,
need some expert advice.
This is my setup
PIII 850(100fsb), Abit BE6 mobo (latest bios), 640mb PC100 SDRAM, Quantum fireball 18gig HDD, 250W PS. running W2K.
The problem:
Occasionaly whenever system boots it hangs with HDD led on (remember this happenes almost every 2nd boot.)
PC loads post, checks memory & UDMA66 bios screen appears reconizes the HDD properly but when Win2K needs to be loaded it stalls.
In my bios, masters & slaves are all set to "none" because my highpoint 366 ide controller takes care of this.
But as of now if I try to set the bios to reconize the drives (setting master/slaves to "auto") all drives are reconized except my main drive (quantum), and seems the 1st cd takes over as role of primary master even though it is clearly a secondary master attached to ide with my cd burner.
I've tested my HDD, repaired MBR but still stalls on load.
I doubt its a W2K problem since when it loads it has no problems, everything works as it should - device manager normal. No viruses either.
Need help!
thanks
