Hey guys, I just built a new computer well almost, my 400watt power source isn't here yet. But i tried using a 250 watt power source to power a gigbyte GA-7DX motherboard with 256 MB pc2100 ddr ram, geforce2 Ti 64ddr, athlon XP 1800+, NIC, sound card, cd rom, and a 7200 rpm hdd but it wouldn't boot up, stuff powered up, my hdd started spinning but nothing came onto the screen. What could be the problem? Could the power source just be too weak?

I think that's what it would be, but just to make sure, boot up with the bare minimum and see if it works. You have a lot of things running, and I'm not too sure that 250Watts can support that. You might have some success if you boot with just the hard drive, video card, RAM, and CD-ROM. Hope this helps.

If it is a PCI video card, switch the slot after taking everything else out.

If it is an AGP video card, take it out, turn it on then off, and then reset the card--once again with everything else out. Try it a few times if it doesn't come on--with random combinations of holding in the power switch and switching the back of the power supply on and off. It seems ridiculous, but it has worked for me more than once for whatever reason.

i tried with a 300 watt power source, and its still not working... Does it matter what direction the wire for the power switch is put on the motherboard or any other wire such as the reset button, HDD led, power led, and speaker because even tho the power turns on, theres no video and the led's dont light up.
