Boot Problems

I recently noticed a problem when my computer boots. It has been happening now for about 2 weeks. I cannot repeat the problem, it happens a random whenever I power on my computer. The problem I'm getting is a sound. It sounds as if the pc speaker is left on during the memory count when the machine boots up. It starts making this sound at the start of the count and when the memory count is finished, the sound still persists and it freezes after the count (It doesn't find my IDE devices). A buddy of mine says that its the ram, but I have a hard time believing this because I bought the ram around the beginning of August and this problem started happening only 2 weeks ago. If anyone has any ideas/hints or had similar problems, please help me out.

My machine: TBird 800/A7V/256MB PC133 CL2 Micron/Gladiac511/SBLive/RTL8139.

I hope this makes sense. Please post any ideas or suggestions. Thanks

well, if the problem doesn't occur everytime you boot, then i doubt it is a hardware problem. if it was a hardware problem, it should fail everytime you boot. and if the problem temporarily goes away after you reboot, then i'm boggled. 😕 random problems are the hardest to fix IMO. bump to see if anyone else has any ideas.

My chipset fan on my A7V133 used to randomly make a whirring/grinding type noise on cold bootup.
This would always cause the BIOS to reset to default CPU settings, I fixed it by oiling the fan.

Just a thought.
