I just put together my first build over the weekend, and although I had power button issues at first it seemed to run fine for 2 days. I did notice the CPU temps were are little high so I reseated the stock HSF and put on some Arctic Silver5. After that once the PC receives any power at all it automatically boots, and i hear 1 post beep. After the fans running for aroud 4-5 seconds it shuts down. It then cycles through the same thing over and over. It did it earlier in the day for a few times, but i got it to boot. Unfornately after shutting down again I cannot get into bios, it never gets that far.

Any ideas on what the solution might be? See below for system specs, thanks in advance for any advice.

Intel C2D E6600
Asus P5W DH Deluxe
2 gig Corsair XMS (PC6400)
250g Seagate SATA HD
eVGA 7900GT KO
Samsung DVR-R
450w Antec PSU (Came w/ case)

Sounds like a short to me. I would start with the power button (though rare, they can be defective), then I would go to the control pins (the pins the power button speaker etc are plugged into. From there, I would make sure that while the artic grease shouldn't be conductive, make sure you put on enough for a thin film.
