When I boot up my computer, the monitor frequently is not recognized. I shut down, reboot, and it activates the monitor.

I have a 750 mhz machine, 1 gig of RAM, MS XP Pro, with partion Magic 7.0 on the C drive.
I just installed the drive (130 gb, then partioned it off into a 25 gb, and 105 gb partions)

I have not loaded any programs I did not use before the HD upgrade. This is a new isse.

Any help will be appreciated.

Not recognized by Windows, you mean? Like Windows won't recognize it as a "MW-1700" or whatever model? Or it won't even display anything in Windows?

Do you see anything even when POSTing?

Correct.
The monitor will not even come on.
The power light stays yellow.
I reboot, & it comes on.

That sounds alot less like a monitor issue, and alot more like a no-post issue. Have you tried it with another monitor?

No I have not.
I'll give it a shot.

It's about time I had a simple one !

If I switch it out and have the same problem, I'll be back begging for help.

Thnaks for the hint.

If you have the same problem, that makes things more difficult. I would randomly guess that it's a video card or a power supply issue. If you get bored you can try a different video card.

Is your computer even doing the usual POST beeps and whatnot? If Windows loads, do you get the Windows boot chord sound even if you get no video?

I think the situation is this.

When he turns on the PC cold, nothing comes up on the screen, no sounds, nothing. If he resets it, then it will come up and work fine. The question is, why does it not work right off the bat. Is that right remote?
