Solved! Boot issue from hibernation

HP Dv7 3100 entertainment laptop. Using win xp when hibernating seem to have boot up issues. Nearly every other boot up ends up locking to a blank screen.
Shutting the computer down and it re-boots perfectly.

All my computers running XP after the bios set up there is a blank screen with a cursor blinking at the top left of the screen for a few seconds then appears the windows logo and windows starts.....

In my case nearly every other start up from hibernation ends up with the blank screen and just sits there.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

So you are running Windows XP on a Dv7 3100? That laptop came with Windows 7. A shot in the dark would be a driver issue is causing a device not to respond probably when waking from sleep. Since at least some of the devices in the system were not designed to run XP, putting Windows 7 back on the laptop would be the easier solution.

Found the problem, I was leaving the HDMI plug connected while hibernating. Disconnecting this each time I hibernate fixed the problem.

I have two partitions, one with win 7 and one with XP, same problem on both when leaving the HDMI connected and trying to boot after hibernation ...rebooting from complete shut down leaving HDMI connected is fine on both.

BTW, XP out performs Win 7 hands down with most programs I run, regarding speed and overall use. Personally I find 7 - 8 clumsy and 10 even worse, designed for people from outta space, not for regular people lol ......Sorry for that, I'm deadly serious...

I would try a different driver. Maybe there isn't one for XP but at least on Win7 you should be able to find one that does not have a problem leaving HDMI connected. Then again intel video intel driver, intel always seems to act like they shouldn't have to bother with video drivers, how little configuration they allow.
