Might seem insane but my boot.ini is gone, can someone please provides his, I m using Windows XP Pro SP1 with 2 partitions on IDE HDD , 1 6G on which Windows is installed this is c:\ * the other is d: drive on whoich nothing is installed but only files are kept.

Required before next boot

[boot loader]
timeout=0
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

I have two drives with one partition on each. I don't think that matters, but it's up to you to check 🙂

If you are using multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1) then your computer will boot even with a missing or corrupted boot.ini. If you are using anything else you'll need a valid one.

If you are ever unsure about what arc path to use, just boot to recovery console and use the MAP ARC command.
