Boot from space bar?

Does anyone know how (or if) I can set up the Asus A7V133 to boot when I hit the space bar? It's an ATX board, and I thought all ATX boards could do that...but I can't find a setting for it in the BIOS, and there's no mention of it in the manual. Oh, and I tried just hitting the space bar (I can hope!) but it didn't work. Maybe I can't do it...just wondering if anyone knows for certain.

Umm.. I need some clarification. What the heck do you mean? Boot when you hit the spacebar? so you want to turn the system on and have it stop then boot when you hit the spacebar? or are you talking about when there is a problem on boot.. and you want to finish booting anyway.. like hitting F1? please explain exactly what you are trying to do.

He wants to make it like a Macintosh. Push a button on the keyboard and the little beastie starts up.

Don't know how or if you can do it with a PC, though. I'd be interested in hearing about it.

First of all, I'm a she. Second, no cybrphreak I want to turn the computer ON from having been OFF by hitting the space bar. It's definitely possible, I have another machine that's configured to do it. I just can't find a way to do it with this motherboard, so I was hoping that someone with the same board could give me some advice.

check your user' manual, some mobo like Epox has KEYBOARD-ON function, but need to set your jumper on. Abit also has KEYBOARD-On function, but it can select which key to turn on the PC from it BIOS setting.

Some mobos have an option in the BIOS to let you do it, others don't. The A7V133 does not. I think my MSI 6309 did.

Thanks Timekeeper...as I said above, though, I've already drilled through the whole manual and it's definitely not in there. Bryan - thank you for confirming that I can't do it. It was more out of curiosity than any real need...I was just wondering why it wasn't an option.

on my abit bx6-2 i just use CTRL+F1 ... i dont htink there was a space one or i probably would have used that... i had it at left click for a while too

Johneetrash, is there a BIOS setting that you're using to set those hotkeys up? From what Bryan said, I don't think I can do that on my mobo.

An ASUS P3B-F and CUSL2 can do it. Its under the power area of the bios. Never had an A7V, so I don't know on that one.

I know what you talking about, almost every BX motherboard i seen from Abit & Asus has had that feature
Abit BX6R2
Abit BP6
Asus P2B
Asus P3B-F

Asus uses spacebar
Abit is Ctrl + Function Key

I'm using a Abit KT7 and i couldnt find the feature either, and there was no mention of it in the manual.

So i just assumed it was a nifty feature that just wasnt included with KT133 chipset???? I dont know maybe i am wrong.

I only looked through the BIOS once, when I was first building the machine last night, so I guess it's possible that I missed it. However it sounds from what others here are saying that it's really not there. Oh well...guess I'll have to bend my lazy ass over and hit the power button! :Q

There should be a jumper or setting in BIOS called Keyboard Power On, or something similar. KB PWON maybe.

yea the abit bios lets me do the power up thing.. they are jumperless you know

I'll check the BIOS when I get home from work. I don't remember seeing it there...looks like I might be out of luck on this one. I'll post my results.

yes, it might be a &quot;power Managment&quot; feature, poke around in there, I've seen mobo's with WOL capabilities, and have thought about enabling it in mine.
