Boot From CD Q

IceT

My mobo has an onboard Promise controller. My HD connects to the ATA/66 1, my burner to UDMA/33 primary master, and CDROM to UDMA/33 secondary master. When I try to boot something off the CD, it doesn't boot off my CDROM drive! Why is that? Do I need to put my boot CD to my burner in order to boot from CD? Can I not boot off secondary device? I already have my boot sequence to CDROM, SCSI, C.

Thanks.

When I personally boot from a cd, I always change it in my bios to cd, cd, cd until I have installed my o.s. or whatever task your performing. Its worth a shot

Make sure you have a good bootable CD. Check it on another computer that can boot from the CD ROM drive. I have had some that boot one machine and are ignored by another. I finally created a good master boot CD . . . and it has to have the real mode CD ROM drivers or as soon as it boots, you lose the CD ROM drive.

I assume your boot sequence in BIOS is your last sentence?
