Boot finds 2 operating systems??

I am doing a fresh install of Windows XP on one of my friends computer. When the formatting and installation of windows was done the computer restarted and went into windows perfectly. Now after installing SP2, whenever I boot the computer it asks me which operating system I would like to boot from. I only have one instance of Windows XP on the hard drive. When I do select the other operating system I get a message saying that the operating system cannot be found on the hard drive. Then when I select the other instance of it it boots fine. My question is how do I get rid of this screen so it just boots to the correct Windows XP install? Thanks in advance.

right click My Computer, select properties.
On the properties window select the Advanced tab, go down to the section titles " startup and Recover" settings. Select " Edit Start-up Options Manually". Then edit out the offending selection from the Boot.ini.

reboot, done.
