got the following message during bootup:

First, try changing your keyboard. If that doesn't work, try the following - this has worked for me several times. Sounds like registry error.

Start your system to command prompt. Hit the F8 key when you see the message "Starting windows 98". This will get you the boot menu. Choose safe mode command prompt only from the menu.

type the following command at the prompt:

scandisk /all /surface

Let it fix errors that it finds (if it finds any), you don't want to save the data, and you don't want to create a backup disk. When it is done, type the following command:

scanreg /restore

This will give you the choice to restore the registry from a date of a last known good backup.

Reboot and you should be able to restart your system without issue.

here's the latest bootup message i recieve.

abort,retry, ignore,fail? "

BTW,

I'm beginning to think this computer is possessed by the devil.

The past 2 months i have had to replace the following items:

2 IBM 20.5 GB HD (yes thats two)
1 250W power supply

Is it likely/possible the abit board is killing my harddrives??
