I'm trying to install Whistler and the CD doesn't seem to be bootable like previous versions of NT. Does anyone have the utility to make the boot disks for it (couldn't find it on the disk)? Or, does anyone know if the boot disks for Win2k will work?

I would assume that you can make bootable floppies just the way you do for older versions of NT. winnt.exe /ox or something like that.

Nothing on bootdisk.com.

SUOrangeman, what do you mean by "winnt.exe /ox or something like that"?

I'll try the boot disks from Win2k first. Is they don't work I'll write the i386 folder to my drive and see if I can use that DOS thing that reads/writes to NTFS partitions. Thanks everyone for the help.

The bootdisks for Win2k didn't work. If anyone has the utility that makes the bootdisks for Whistler could you please mail it to me? It would be much appreciated.

my whistler CD booted fine. Maybe something's wrong with your CD...
If you're installing it as a second OS, I think you can start the install from Windows (that's what I did when I installed Win2k with 98)

Thanks for the reply. I could install from Win2k but I'd like to install to a separate disk from outside an OS. I'd just write the i386 directory to a disk and install it that way but I'd like to use NTFS and DOS can't read it. Sure would like that utility.

aLRIGHT NOW. feck ALL THIS.

(woops, CAPS LOCK was on and I am too lazy to retype :))

Is there a bootdisk directory on the Whistler CD. If this CD is anything like Win2K discs, there will be 6 files in the said directory mkboot and mkboot32 (I think) along with 4 image files. Double-click either of the executables and make those darned floppies!
