boot disk for win2k

I need to make a BOOT disk for win2k. But I don't want to make SETUP disks. I am tring to update my bios, but I don't know what disk to stick the bios update onto if I have to use all 4 disks... I don't need to setup win2k. It's already installed.

You don't want a w2k floppy, but rather, a simple DOS boot floppy. Bootdisk.com has many you can download if you don't have DOS or win9x handy. Whatever floppy you use, don't format it using w2k or it won't boot into DOS.

The simple dos boot disks from that site fills the disk. No room for the bios update.
Also, I tried to just boot from the dos disk that I did create and it said non system disk.

Maybe someone can just list the files needed for a boot disk???

This is gonna sound really stupid, but here is what i had to do. Simply use TWO floppy disks. Put the bootdisk on one, and the bios and flashing utility on the other disk. Use the bootdisk to get into dos, and then simply replace it with the floppy with the bios on it. Once you have booted into dos, you no longer need the boot disk.

Hope that helps, it worked for me . .

Format a floppy with any version of Win9x using the add system files option. The only necessary files on the floppy are io.sys, msdos.sys, and command.com (plus your flash program and the binary BIOS file). If you have a crowded diskette (a win98 startup floppy, for example, fills the diskette with cabinet files, etc.), you can delete everything but the above files. A floppy formatted using win2k (or any other version of NT) will give you the non-system disk error.
