Boot Camp wont recognize my 64 bit version of vista

im sort of new to mac and my boss wants me to install vista on his mac book pro. Its the newest macbook so it has to be able to use a 64 bit OS.

when i run bootcamp and insert my cd for some reason it spits it out and tells me to insert a windows cd. Does bootcamp support vista64? Ive read that it does.

Any suggestions?

Newer MacBook Pros (Mid 2008 and later) are supposed to work fine with Vista 64 in Boot Camp. A friend of mine has driver issues with his mid-2008 MBP, but it installed just fine. Are you sure the disc is good?

Im using leopard 10.5.6. It says its supposed to. It worked fine on my computer so i dont see why it wouldnt work on this. its the newest macbook that came out, not counting the 17"

Try turning off the system and then turning it back on. Just as it turns on, put the disk in and hold ALT. That will being up the boot menu, which hopefully will have the disk there.

i was almost gonna try that but then it will probably overwrite osx. I want to use bootcamp so i can choose which OS to boot.

No see, then once you go to install Vista, you point it to the partition that you created. Format that partition NTFS and let Vista install

Also, FYI you'll need to hold down the Alt/Opt key again after the OS install to finalize the installation. BootCamp sets that partition as the boot drive when you use it to boot into the install from within OSX, but if you do it manually.. you'll have to remember to hold down that key to select the Windows partition until you get the BootCamp drivers installed in Windows.
