Boosting a WiFi signal?

I'm moving into an apartment next year. The building is considered "off campus living", but it is smack in the middle of campus, and closer to the classes and whatnot than the dorms. My college campus is on a wireless 802.11b network. Rather than paying for internet($50/month for DSL or $45/line/month for T1) it makes sense to just tap into DragonFly(wireless), because I'm already paying for that. From what I hear, wireless signal strength isn't very good in the building though. Is there any way to boost the signal?

With the right card, cabling and antenna, you can really get some nice improvement.

I think the Linksys WET11 can take an external antenna. HEcom will tell you what to get, but a good omni-directional 10+ dbi gain should work for you.
