I started a new job, and they want to reimburse me the difference between my current 1400 min ATT plan and unlimited. Since I have a 5 phone family plan that would not be reasonable at all.

I was wondering if anyone has had much experience with Boost Mobile? For 55 bucks I can get an android phone with everything unlimited. the coverage map look very good in my area, but I know there is a reason that boost mobile isnt that big of a company.

any thoughts?

Sprint is terrible. I am in the Dallas area as well and their data speed is awful here. If you don't care much about data then go for it. If you do care then run. Run far. Run fast.

Sprint has extremely slow data. Boost uses the Sprint network. If you depend on being able to use data frequently and for anything more than checking email, you will be disappointed.

When I had Sprint, I would do speed tests regularly. In general I would get between 200 and 400 kbps download speed, which translates to 25-50 KB/s download speed. Basically halfway between slow DSL and dialup.

If you ARE okay with slow data, maybe look into Virgin Mobile. Cheaper than Boost, uses the same Sprint network though. But there are lower priced plan options. With Boost, it's $55 for unlimited talk, texting, and data. VM is also $55 for unlimited everything, but you can go with 1200 minutes for $45 or 300 minutes for $35 a month. Keep in mind, you get no freebie minutes (not at night, not on weekends), but most people don't use many minutes anyway.

If you want fast data then look elsewhere. T-Mobile maybe.

T-Mobile has a prepaid plan, unlimited talk and text, and unlimited data for $50-70 a month. And the data is actually fast unlike Sprint.

There are tiers at $50, $60, and $70. The $50 tier has fast data for only the first 100 MB and then it throttles you down to much lower speeds. At $60 you get 2 GB of fast data, and at $70 there is no limit. The $60 plan is probably the way to go. Depends on your coverage of course, but it's definitely a better deal than Boost or Virgin Mobile at $55.
