boooooo.... my Visor Platinum is completely fuxx0r3d!

a while ago i stepped on my visor and thought i broke it. But it turns out the batteries were dead also(but lost all my info). So i got some batteries today and put Visor on the hotsync pad, and put all my stuff back on my visor.

so anyway...everythings going well but it says "please wait, cleaning up" or something...so i just let it sit there. 20 mintues go by and i get fed up. So i took out the batteries and put the back in....apparently i get this error message "Fatal Error: Reset" I click reset and i just goes back to the screen. I reset it in the back and take out the batteries....nothings happening. Does anyone know whats going on, or how i can get it fixed? Or how long the warranty lasts on this thing?

By the way, if anyone has a place to upload pics, ill show a shot of it (and the damage i did when i stepped on it)

it used to be $70 to replace it without like a pre-paid get a replacement warranty.....did you try hard reset? holding down the paperclip in the reset button, and holding on button will do a hard reset.
There is someone doing free image uploads here on AT...can't remember teh link off teh top of my head....

what's a hard reset? there's a button in the back that says "reset" and i pushed on that a couple times...but im guessing thats not the hard reset?

I think you do a hard reset by pushing and holding the power button, at the same time push and hold the reset button, and then keep holding reset will releasing the power button. Could be the opposite way though, letting go of reset first.

Take apart the stylus tip. Hold down the power button, and put the little reset pin thats located on the back of the stylus tip into the reset slot. Keep holding down the power button untill you see a prompt on the screen asking if you really want to hard reset. Do what it tells you to do, and boom, hard reseted PDA.

You don't have to keep the reset pin in the hole though, you can take that out after you push it in. Just keep holding the power button. You can let go of the power button once the handheld displays the Palm Computing logo.

<< im not worried about the physical damage..it's not that bad. I just want it to function again! >>

Well this is my guess on what happened when you stepped on it. The case flexed, LCD survived, but circuit board cracked. If they see a cracked circuit board, they'll charge you the full cost to repair it, but with cracked circuit board, I'd say it's a total loss and you'll be charged a gobble.
