BOOO to netflix (pricing increase)

I don't know anybody who watches $10.00 worth of movies a month (2-3 movies) let alone $22.00 worth of movies.

Who has the time to sit in front of the couch to do this? Especially with the nice spring/summer weather, who would spend money to sit on their butt in front of the tube when they could be out doing things...

I don't know what you're talking about, I put Kill Bill at the top of my queue on Monday and it shipped yesterday. I've never had any major problems with their service.

You have no idea how many TV serials I have watched on Netflix without having to drive to blockbuster. Plus at $4,I would have spend thousands on blockbuster as comapred to Netflix.

Since launching our service four years ago, we've added more than 20 distribution centers in order to provide one-business-day delivery to most of our members. We've also expanded our library by thousands of titles and now offer more than 18,000 to choose from. During the four years, improvements such as these, as well as postal changes, have increased the cost of doing business.
On June 15, 2004, our prices will change to:


Standard - 3 movies out a time for $21.99
Plus - 5 movies out a time for $33.99
Ultimate - 8 movies out at a time for $49.99
Economy - 2 movies out at a time (limit: 4 rentals per month) for $14.99

I don't think its ever been a threat, or ever will become one, but its a very very convienent alternative, especially to those who don't live near a video store. (or have burned bridges with their currenty video store..heh). I think it has its niche and works it well.

I can see joining Netflix for something like 6 months and just watching every movie I ever wanted to see but didn't want to spend $4 for. But every month at $20+ I hardly even rent 1 movie per month. I can't believe how many movies some of you poeple watch. And some poeple actually have to have 8 movies out at one time!?! Different strokes for different folks I guess.

At $23.80 a month (price after tax) I would have to watch 72 movies a year (6 per mo.) to bring my price per movie down to the $4 level. I am a current subscriber but I have watched most of the movies that I want to so I am evaluating my options. I think they should drop your monthly price a percentage each year you are a member.

I live in Alaska and the nearest Blockbuster is 30min away. I'm also a fan of Independent Films and the mom 'n pop video stores nearby do not carry those, so Netflix is a wonderful service for someone like me.

We've gotten the routine down where every Thursday the three movies arrive, Nero Recode, back in the mail on Friday so the next set are here on the following Thursday.

They're raising the 8-disc plan $10 to $50/month. I'm on this plan now to be able to keep a bunch of choices on hand without pirating discs, but I'll be dropping down to the 5-plan now. As a result, netflix will get $6 less from me while I watch the same number of movies.

This is kinda fishy... just checked my credit card statement with amex online, and THIS month for the 3 out plan I was chaged $21.95... I wasn't informed of the price increase, and in fact I just barely signed up for $19.99 a month.

Blockbuster has never edited a movie, I have no idea where people get this crazy idea..........

I looked at Netflix just because I hate Blockbuster, but I just don't watch that many movies. It seems I now have time to watch like two a month, max. I do appreciate them providing an alternative though. I'll just give Hollywood and the local guys my business as much as possible instead.
