Personally, I did not find the narrator (I suck at spelling) change in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest to be beneficial. I prefer the book and always will.

Congo was a horrendous book adaptation.

The Shawshank Redemption was a great movie, although I never read the book.

I'd say Lord of the Rings is the ultimate movie stemming from a book. :D

I prefer the book Jurassic Park to the movie.

However, I prefer the movie We Were Soldiers to the book.

and last, I liked the book the Hot Zone (one of my favorites) which is what Outbreak was loosely based on.

Blade Runner (either version) is better than the original "Do Androids..." short story.

Total Recall was great fun, but so different from "I Can Remember It For You Wholesale" that it isn't really an adaptation just "inspired by"

Highlander was an excellent movie, though I haven't read the book.

Damnation Alley - definitely in the "worst" camp, completely destroys the Zelazny novel but (unlike Total Recall) doesn't make it entertaining.

I wish they made the Reality Dysfunction book series into a movie. would have to be 24 hours long and cost a billion dollars to produce (plus be rated nc-17)

It might be cool as either anime or Final Fantasy-style CG animation, then you'd only need 100-200 million for the series ;)

By the way, if you haven't read David Brin's "Uplift" books, you should, especially the second trilogy. Just as imaginitive (as Hamilton) though more cerebral.

Bourne Identity sucked compared to the Book
I liked Jurassic Park in both forms. Although Lost World was a let down. Book was super good.
