Finished that series, very enjoyable overall. If you have younger readers in your household that are looking for something to read after they are done with the latest Harry Potter book, I recommend any series by Tamora Pierce. I am starting on The Immortals Quartet right now, a four book series set in the same world as The Song Of The Lioness Quartet. The events in The Immortals take place after those in The Song of the Lioness, but there is some character overlap, in that the main character of The Song of the Lioness Quartet, Alanna, makes frequent appearances in The Immortals, though she is not the main character. First book of The Immortals Quartet is Wild Magic, and is very good thus far. :)

Wild Magic was excellent, and I am now reading the second book in The Immortals Quartet,
Wolf-Speaker. In some ways I actually like it better than the Song of the Lioness Quartet. The books are longer and more detailed, though there are fewer characters to focus on.

Wolf-Speaker was another excellent addition to the series. I started reading the next one,
Emperor Mage, as soon as I finished the previous one, I liked it that much.

Emperor Mage was good, took place in the country of Carthak, which is south of the kingdom of Tortall where the other books took place. The main character, Daine is part of a group sent there to help negotiate a treaty with Carthak, despite recent covert attempts by that same country to instigate rebellion in Tortall. Now starting on the last book in the series, The Realms of the Gods.

I just finished Franken's book (Lies...) and I've been looking for In God We Trust by Jean Shepherd (the movie A Christmas Story was based on this book).

Title: First Test (Protector of the Small)
Author: Tamora Pierce
Genre: Fantasy

Finished Tamora Pierce's The Immortals quartet this morning, and am starting on her next one, Protector of the Small. It follows the next female to attempt to become a knight after Alanna. Very good so far, and the story seems to be fleshed out a bit more than the Song of the Lioness quartet, though that is probably due to the fact that the author mentions in the back of the book, that American publishers are apparently willing to allow the authors more pages due to the success of the Harry Potter series. It seems they finally figured out that readers might be willing to buy and read longer books.

I think I like this quartet a bit better than the Song of the Lioness quartet so far, as it goes into more depth about the character's quest and training to become a knight than the other books did, and there is less of the magic aspect involved. Again though, the author had more pages to work with this time, I suspect she could have done as well with the other series if the editors had let her.

A Traveler's Guide to Mars. - really in-depth book on the geology of Mars, dozens of cool coler pictures from the orbiters and landers, highly recomended, 2/3 through it. Also reading A Clockwork Orange.

Just finished Demon Haunted World by Sagan.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

I'm about 3/4 thru, but I've slowed down a lot since finishing college. I read Fellowship of the Ring and most of this one during boring classes.

I'm going to read the entire LOTR trilogy. Starting on Fellowship right now ... I read the Hobbit when I was a kid (I should probably hit that book later).

Have you read Sojourner: An Insider's View of the Mars Pathfinder Mission? I heard an interview with the author the other day. He's a senior systems engineer at Jet Propulsion Laboratory. I planned on getting it with my next order from Amazon.Com.

Reading Transfer of Power by Vince Flynn. Just finished the first book in the series by Flynn called Term Limits. They are political thrillers and I highly recommend them.

Also anything by Robin Cook if you like medical sc-fi type stuff.
