Anyone here ever enrolled their kids in the Children's Book-of-the-Month club? If so, was it a good company or do they rip you off on shipping and handling after your inital enrollment set?

Would like any feedback on customer service or quality of books and things with this plan.

My girls are 3, 2, 1 and another on the way. I am thinking this might be a good thing to do for them.

We have done the Dr Suess club and it just sends books we already have very annoying. I have seen things for Winnie the Pooh and Barney clubs. I am looking for something with more variety in books and for multiple ages.

Any other clubs anyone would suggest?

Thanks! :)

Quality Paperback Book Club (QPB) is a high-quality club that is mostly for grown-ups but might have enough children's books to be worth joining. Besides, mommy needs to keep reading too :)

PS here in Seattle we have the Half Price Books chain that has overstocks, closeouts, and used books. Nothing wrong with a used book if it doesn't have too many jam stains or crayon scribbles :)

I will check it out. I don't think there is anything like that here. A few used book stores but they are so small I could never take my kids in there and leave w/ the store in once piece LOL. I am not sure my stroller would even fit down their aisle.

i'm assuming you're referring to Booksonline.

it's been awhile, but i signed up for Doubleday book club and their Science Fiction Book club years ago. from what i recall, they have a set price on shipping per book.. so the 1st book shipping is a set #, 2nd book shipping is abit cheaper, etc.. it seemed reasonable back then to me.

yes that is it. I got a thing where I can get 5 books for $2 plus shipping. And a few of the kids sets have 2-5 books in them and still count as 1. Shipping said $4.99 first book 1.99 after so it would be like $11 to order them. and most that I wanted were more than one book. Sounded like a great deal but was not sure how they were after they got you roped in the club.
It says I can buy up to 2 more right now for 4.95 and only pay the 1.99 shipping on them too. I am not sure if this is a good deal since I can't see what prices are once you join the club.

Oh well maybe I will give it a try. My kids love books so much.
