Beautiful Mind cleaning up? Meh. At least give me Ian McKellan if not best screenplay, director, and picture.
I'm going to bed and reading the second book.

I'm doing exactly the same.

If you enjoyed the movie, why in the world would it make a damn bit of difference if a bunch of egotistical voters gave it the award or not?

are you telling me that LOTR only got 4 oscars!!!!!!! thats outragous, it was the best picture by far, a beautiful mind was ok and nothing more:|:|

oh well.. there is always the next film 😉

I thought LOTR won they oscars they deserved... I loved LOTR, but there was no chance it was going to win best picture... its a fantasy/action movie!!! which means it caters to guys. Don't forget half the academy is female... I bet none of them voted for it.

LOTR got 4... the same number as ABM. It's just unfortunate that is was all music, costume, and writing... It would have been nice to at least see Ian get one...

amish

I am also surprised that LOTR didn't get the last one as I think a beautiful mind is ok but not as good as LOTR.

anyway I am happy Denzel got the award. I don't want Russel Crowe to get it.

I am sorry for Sean Penn. He did a very good job.

Maybe next time.

blah blah blah...get over it already.

Lord of the Rings = fantasy
Beautiful Mind = true story

Where you live = fantasy land

😉

It is an Oscar not the Nobel Peace prize, oh wait, John Nash, Jr. did win the Nobel...

LOTR never stood a chance. Its a popcorn movie by oscar standards. Its going to clean up at MTV and golden globes though.

<< Its going to clean up at MTV. >>

Oh, THAT will give the movie some credibility.

I really don't see what you LOTR fanboys are complaining about . . .

A Beautiful Mind had its ONE shot and won . . . LOTR still has two more entrys for the Oscars - in 2003 and 2004.

🙂

The Academy is older, thus the appeal for Fantasy based movies is not as appealing. If the Academy was based around 14 year old kids, then yes, LOTR would of easily cleaned house at the Oscars.

<< Its going to clean up at MTV and golden globes though. >>

Golden globes are over dude... they happen before the Academy awards... and LOTR didn't clean house at all.

Yo,
Yours truly has a degree in Econ from a respectable institution and is aware of John Nash and saw A Beautiful Mind.

Lord of the Rings (Fellowship) was better.

But the Academy is prejudiced against films that are not dramas or epics.
