You're thinking of PC Connection, which tried to merge with Outpost until Fry's came along and purchased Outpost outright for cash.

Fry's never did PM except to local stores and that is a hassle as well. This is old news.

Hmmm why would you guys want to pricematch outpost.com, outpost.com is way too expensive and way too retail. You ever see their mobo combos, like $100 overpriced all the time. And this pricematch policy has been here for a while. Luckily I can get a $10 return on frozen throne since I saw a local store have it on sale.

I worked for Fry's from 1988-1993, and their policy always required being able to verify prices and stock locally(on the PHONE). So this is nothing new....too many people just make up stuff, always have...

Wow, you actually worked there for 5 years? Everyone I've talked to there seems to have only worked there for a few months, and then they quit and move on..

I could welcome some cold deals (here in Phoenix with a car AC not working)...

I will say that the Fry's in Tempe, while not the greatest help, has usually been able to answer questions I have (and I have 15 years in the bus, so I have some real winner questions).

I have never pricematched Fry's, but my brother wants one in Raleigh so he could price match Best Buy and Circuit City and the Office places to them...

I don't mind them not matching internet ads, but I find it bad that they offer different deals to different cities. Several times I have found a deal from the LA ad only to find
that Dallas doesn't offer the same deal. Fry's also has the most outdated rebate system
in the world. Nothing online. Nothing that you can pick up yourself. You have to wait 5-10 minutes while some brainless clerk searches for a paper to make a copy of. How stupid is the guy who set that up? Then you have to read the fine print to see how many days you have to send it in within (1 to 14 usually).

I've never successfully price matched anything at Fry's.. guess that streak will just continue on.

Yea, nothing new. Fry's has always only pricematched local stores. Even then, those stores had to have the item in stock. As for the CSR, it is sad when you live 25 minutes away and you can get to the store before you get an answer on the phone to confirm or ask something.

I bought a WD HDD at my local Fry's (Woodland Hills, CA). A week later BB had it for $30 less, I took the ad in and PM'd with no problem whatsoever.
Two weeks after that CrapUSA had it for $45 less, so I went back and got another $15, again, no hassle.

Perhaps an atypical experience, but it DID happen!

well I don't find it strange to have to wait till the store is open. I mean you're just saying they have it for 10 bucks. I mean wouldn't u check if yourself if some customer just told you X store has it for X price, you would believe them without checking.

I have zero problems with frys PMing local stores. I bring printed Ad competitor or their own, no hassle. few key strokes and I'm on my way.

As for no online pricematching, its nothing new to me. Though I find it wierd Frys computers shows stocks of all stores including outpost. Why they don't pricematch themselves beats me.

since i had a copy of the compusa ad with me they did not need to take my word for the price. They were calling to verify it was instock on tuesday which was the day the dvd was first released.

old news...frys has "regional" deals, they will not PM outpost, nor other frys locations out of the same area. Only local stores, if that :Q

Their policy appears to be 'find a way not to pricematch' products in stock, and forget anything but local stores.
