I guess I'm ok with an Asterisk besides his name. We still know that Bonds is the best baseball player ever even if he was on the juice. LOL, if Ruth had been given the opportunity to use it I doubt he would have because it would have meant he'd have to get his fat ass in the gym for it to be useful for him.

Just arguing for arguments sake, I think Bond's is definitely up there amongst the greatest players of all time, and in this era probably in the Top 3 or 4. But I don't believe he is THE greatest without steriods.

Some people I would put above him without him using steroids:
Willie Mays
Ted Williams
Babe Ruth
Nolan Ryan
Joe DiMaggio
Mickey Mantle
Honus Wagner
Hank Aaron
Pete Rose
No argument from me. However a juiced up Bonds was better than any of those mentioned with the exception ot Williams who might have shattered the HR Mark if he hadn't of served twice in the Marines in time if war.
Babe Ruth was the greatest player ever. Look up his pitching stats, HR/AB%, and lifetime BatAvg compared to Bonds. He makes Bonds look like a little leaguer statistically, especially if you take out Bond's roid years. Bonds could also never hold Teddy Ballgame's jockstrap, he was the best pure hitter ever.

LOL
News flash, Babe Ruth did not play against the best players in baseball, talk about a fraud. Thats like saying George Mikan was the greatest center ever. Man please. Babe Ruth is so far behind Barry B, it aint even funny.
Yeah, because Hall of Fame pitchers that Ruth played against: Walter Johnson, Lefty Grove, Tris Speaker, Stan Koveleski, and Grover Cleveland Alexander all bit the big one. Why do you even bother posting?

And I don't even like Barry Bonds as a person, but he is the greatest baseball player of our era and outside of Wille Mays, probably the best of alltime. If your gonna build the perfect ball player Bonds is the blue print. I can name at least 6-7 others who would come before Babe Ruth. Babe Ruth, what a joke. Nothing more than another Rocky Marciano, who would have got knocked the f out had he fought any of the top heavy weights in their prime down through the ages.

how can you believe barry now? he originaly said he never used anything, only when he got on the stand did he change his story at all...we shall see how this comes out, but i highly doubt this will be the end

giambi and others have said that this anderson character was known by most people to be supplying steroids, yet bonds (his good friend for 30 years) didnt have a clue??? get real

So you're telling me a professional athlete, whos body is his gold mine, his life, is putting stuff into his body when he doesn't know what the hell it is? Hell if that's the case hes dumber then he expects the public to be in believing his story. You simply can't compare players directly with other eras. So basically what you're saying by doing so is that BJ Surhoff is just as good as Ruth because he hit more then 50 HRs in a season? I mean Surfhoff did do this against the best players in the world. And the perfect baseball player blueprint is Bonds juiced, not Bonds off of juice, and even then its disputable. I know I'm treading on a line here, but would you happen to be discrediting Ruth and some of the other greats because they're white?

It won't end here. Wait till the sealed federal evidence gets "unsealed" after this case is over. That's when you'll have your "proof".

Hey I am going to quite frank, If you think for one minute Babe Ruth is anywhere the athlete or ball player that Bonds is, cut some holes in whatever is covering your head so you can see.

Oh that's nice. Because I think Ruth is a better player than a non-juiced Bonds, I'm a Klan member.

I'm pretty sure that patience on the ball and his ability to look the ball and know at which pitches to swing aren't enhanced because of anabolic steroids. I'm also so confused about everyone who wants to ban Bonds from the HoF because he used steroids. As has been said, many baseball players have used steroids. Just because he was able to demolish records because of them doesn't mean you ban him. Furthermore, everyone here is saying that Bonds knowingly took steroids, yet according to him, he took it for arthritis, which is very understandable at his age. Obviously, he can lie, but at the point where that is one of few bits of evidence we have to work with, the conclusions you guys jump to are questionable.

I didn't know classy was black, the picture is clearer now.

Bonds pulling the race card:
Bonds told the grand jurors that he had given Anderson a $20,000 bonus and bought him a ring after the 73-home run season. He also bought the trainer a ring to commemorate the Giants' 2002 World Series appearance. When a juror asked why the wealthy ballplayer hadn't bought "a mansion" for his trainer to live in, Bonds answered:

"One, I'm black, and I'm keeping my money. And there's not too many rich black people in this world. There's more wealthy Asian people and Caucasian and white. And I ain't giving my money up."

No wonder classy likes Bonds so much!

Well did they ask Giambi, the white boy why he didn't buy the guy a mansion? That question is f'in out of line the person who asked needed to be thrown a beaten.

Ruth didn't have to face the same caliber pitchers as Bonds, but Bonds also couldn't have hit 29 home runs in 1919 with the dead ball.

See, I can make unverifiable claims too.

Steroids don't enhance ones ability to recognize pitches nor do they increase "patience". As was stated many a times, steroids do increase speed--thus quicker bat speed, and thus the ability to be more patient at the plate. Bonds has always had quick bat speed throughout his career, but he's gotten older and it is abnormal that his bat speed has stayed the same (if not, increased) as he has gotten older--this which everyone now attributes to steroids. This bat speed with his increased strength is what makes him such a great "power" hitter.

I truely hope that MLB does the right thing.....one of those things should be getting a REAL substance abuse(including roids) program....another would be to punish bonds....he should be thrown out of baseball, anyone else who gets caught should also be tossed....PERIOD

I don't get why this is justified at all. Who cares if it's Barry Bonds or John Doe from TripleAAA. It's wrong. Corking bats isn't a proven advantage, but it's wrong and he should be discounted because he CHEATED. I don't care if 99% of baseball currently cheats, find a way to stop it and keep the game as pure as possible.

Stupid union.
Stupid bonds.
Stupid commissioner.

And I don't favor performance enhancing crap either, but at least McGwire took stuff that was allowed and was upfront about it. He even stopped using it because of the negativity of it all.
