no surprise. Lead league in OBP, slugging %, win division=MVP.

edit--and I'm a HUGE bird-on-the-bat fan, so it hurts me to agree with this.

pujols is a better hitter now than bonds ever was or ever will be... and he just finished his 3rd year...

Pujols had a better year than bonds. Bonds only had 90 RBIs. The amount of RBI's and batting average you have matters more than walks & OBP.

If you compare someone with bonds you have to respect his longevity. Pujols hasn't shown he can stay healthy and perform over a whole career. "Ifs" do not count because they do not work. Same thing for Frank Thomas, who put up statistics that only a handful of greats put up in their first 5 years. Then he basically sucked.

I would bet money plenty of money that pujols will not be get 6 mvps.

Pujols got so screwed out of the MVP award that's its just sad in the end...maybe Bonds could mail him a bottle of his THG and other favorite steriods as a consolation prize...

It's not a lifetime achievement award, it's the most valuable player. What about Barry's craptastic attitude? Is he valuable to have in the clubhouse when he's acting like an ass?

How do you know he acts like an ass towards his teamates? Hell he even lobbied the Giants to keep that Red Assed Jeff Kent whom he has had problems with because of Kents nature to bark at fellow teamates.

How does one get a lot of RBIs if you get WALKED every time there is a runner on? He didn't have that many opportunities for RBIs. The fact that he managed 90 is pretty good when you look at how many times he was walked w/ runners on.

i think you should do a little research. slugging % and OBP are the two most important stats, bar none. Pujols had 4 Gold Glovers and 4 All-Stars with him. what about Bonds? who was protecting him? has anyone ever pitched to hitters differently because Pujols is only 5 hitters away? Bonds had more intentional walks this year than ARod has had in his career. listen, i had cards season tickets the entire time i lived in St. Loo (24 years), but there is no way his year was better than Bonds. and as for the dipshizzle who says Pujols is better hitter than Bonds ever was, well you don't even deserve an answer. Bonds has the the two best hitting years in the history of the game.

If pujols won the tripple crown he would've won the MVP. He didn't so the MVP went to Bonds. It's as simple as that.
