Yeah it's him and not the ridiculous drug testing policy of the MLB. It says, hey take uppers once and shame on us, twice shame on you.

Barry Bonds is such an embarrassment .. I bet the Giants are just thrilled that they re-signed him now!

If he ends up in the hall of fame its a total joke.

Gotta love how he put the blame on something he took from Mark Sweeney's locker. what a dick. This is just like how Rafael Palmeiro blamed his issues on the "B-12" vitamins he took from Miguel Tejada. Bonds is a load of crap.

i don't see how he can get in the HOF especially since they just denied McGuire.

As do almost every single other player who appears on the ballet for the first time. He was not denied, he was passed over for this year.

Enlighten me. So you are saying it is common procedure for everyone to get passed over the first time?

You think McGuire will be in the next time his name comes up?

"In what many consider the first true test of how steroid-era accomplishments will be viewed, McGuire received a mere 23.5 percent of the vote, falling drastically short of the 75 percent needed for induction. Two ballots were left blank in protest.

While McGuire got the cold shoulder, Cal Ripken Jr., and Tony Gwynn easily made the mark, with 98.5 and 97.6 percent respectively."
http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_6764.aspx

"McGwire's dismal showing raises doubts about whether he will ever get elected - players can appear on the BBWAA ballot for 15 years - and whether the shadow of steroids will cost Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa and Rafael Palmeiro places in Cooperstown."

Last I checked a TON of baseball players from back in the day used amphetamines and still made it into the hall of fame.

Unless you're a stud (Ripken, Gwynn, Brett, Aaron, etc) you have a very slim chance of getting in the first time.

Hopefully Mac never gets in and it sets a precedent for all others. The problem with Bonds is that he was a HoF before the juice. With Mac, he didn't exactly have stellar career numbers besides a few categories (which were definitely inflated because of his supposed juicing years). It's going to be an issue of whether or not the drug use was enough of an issue to keep him (Bonds) out.

It's not uncommon to be passed over the first time... Some voters consider it a higher honor to be voted in on the first ballot and will not vote for a person on their first chance unless they're among the best of the best of the best.

Nobody really knows how many voters planned to not vote for McGwire just one time as punishment for what he did, then vote for him next year. It could be 10%, it could be 50%. Next year we'll get a better indication of whether he'll get in anytime soon.

I believe between 40 and 50 people have made it in on the first ballot compared to ~280 in the hall of fame.

We can't go back and find out who was using the stuff in the 80s and 90s. We can investigate new ballot HoFers (from the juice/amphetamines era of the mid-90s through early 2000s) and people that are still playing.

If Mac sets a precedent, which I believe he will, there is no doubt Bonds will get denied. He is the biggest player in the whole MLB steroid scandal. Everyone wants him to go down.

I gave up on baseball years ago because of the issues with inequal team payrolls. This whole steroids thing certainly does not male me regret my decision.

Go ahead, let Bonds break the home run record. Put him in the Hall. Wouldn't surprise me, baseball is a joke.

what bugged me about it is that he blames a teammate on it. WTF? that tells you what kind of man he is.

LOL, I want to hear Mark Sweeney's reaction. Let's get Jeff Kent's take on this, too.

The only reason Bonds is singled out is because:

a) He's not the friendliest guy in the world
b) He's been the most dominating baseball player in the past decade

People cheating is not surprising in this sport, it's almost come to be expected. But there always needs to be a scapegoat to blame all of baseball's problems on, and unfairly it's been Bonds, for the pure fact that baseball is a numbers game and he is about to break the most coveted number of them all.

If Bonds was a .270 hitter with 20 HRs a year, no one would give a sh*T about him, it's too bad..

With Bonds it is all about deflecting blame. An athlete with a mutli-million dollar salary with access to the best nutritionist and trainers in the world, and he says he's bumming pills off of teammates and not knowing what he's putting in his body.
