unless they changed the software, you can end your auction even with less that 12 hours left. it asks for a reason, and you would need to lie and say it is damaged or something...

why not just tell the guy to big on the auction?

If I remember correctly you can not end the auction if it has less than 24 hours to go. You can have the guy bid to win the auction and when you send him an invoice change the price to the agreed amount.

Just tell the guy you want to help out to win the auction. Then just sell it to him for whatever price you agreed to. Make sure he puts in a high enough proxy bid so someone else doesn't win at the last minute.

Your buddy can just pay whatever price you originally agreed on.

But he will still have the ebay fees.

It's bad saying it, but I guess if you are desperate, use a proxy to hide your IP address, create a new account, and bid an insane amount on it so that you win with this new account... then just file non-paying bidder in 3 days.

Just remember that if your friend bids high on purpose to ensure he wins, and if you two have a different price agreed upon, ebay will still charge a sellers fee based on the "erroneous" high amount.

Is it legit? What should I do?!

Thanks,

I wouldn't do that. Under some certain circumstances a seller can end a auction early--I got screwed on a car auction when an ass suddenly ended it with a hour or so to go mainly because he knew he wasn't going to get the amount of money he wanted--guess he'd never heard of a reserve price or was afraid to use it. I'd check all the Ebay facts before you run this game, you might not like the results.
