Hmm, v4.13 was released in October, and v4.19 was released 25. January. In the mean-time, no BOINC-clients have been released and enforced outside projects currently in alpha-testing, and v4.19 is usable by all projects. Predictor@home will force upgrade from v4.13 next week, not sure for the other projects.
By my quick calculation, this means there was roughly 3 months since last client-release, so shouldn't be a big problem for most...
Einstein@home have had some development-builds, v4.14-v4.18, available for download, but this project is still in testing and the only way to join is by adding yourself to a list stating your intent to help "test the program", and.there's also a mentioning of "lab rats".
Appart for getting any of the development-builds from Einstein@home, it's also possible to get them from the main BOINC download-page, but only if specifically clicking a link indicating you want to see the development-builds also. In both places, these is clearly marked as "possibly buggy" and "development versions".
Predictor@home asked for feedback from users testing any of these builds, and made v4.17 available for download before v4.19 was released, they're only enforcing v4.16.
Depending on how fast Predictor@home-users upgraded, this possibly means 2 releases. For the rest, it's only one upgrade directly to v4.19, except for the "lab rats" and alpha-testers.
As for other users downloading development-builds, they haven't really any reasons to complain it's sometimes coming multiple development-builds in a day, since most of them is "work in progress" with known bugs and missing features, and most of the time isn't expected for public release at all.
