Boeing's new dream liner plane

Not nearly cool as boeing's BWB project. Foolhardy suits cancelled the project because they didn't forsee a larger enough profit margin, quickly enough, and in so doing basically conceeded the large plane maqrket to Airbus, and IMHO, doomed themselves.

The specs indicate that it features a wireless network for "live" shopping. I guess you'll be able to access the Home Shopping Network via the 'Net at 35,000 feet.

Hah. Just where would that thing have flown to? No airport would have been able to acomodate it!

Even Atlanta has only two gates that could support the Airbus A340-600 should Lufthansa decide to fly it here!

(BTW, I am an Airbus fan: quieter and smoother!)

What are you talking about? It is almost exactly the same size as a 747.

wtf you actually like those pieces of sh!t?

the worst interiors i have ever suffered through for a plane built in the last 20 years have all been airbus

If you'd actually read thie link instead of looking at the first picture and closing it, you'd know that it can take off from the same runways and fit in the same gates that a 747 could. So, most major airports around the world would be able to accomodate it.

The BEST feature of this plane is the higher humidity level -- I hate those damn arid interiors on plane trips! I might even be able to wear my contacts of one of these.

The super big planes are a waste. They only fly certain routes and only with certain airlines. Airlines like having versatile planes that can fly short and long haul routes with different configurations so they can keep maintenance expertise concentrated for the least amount of airframes. Super large planes will never "take off". Sorry for the pun.

not a big fan of the enormous planes. although i wonder whether they're more fuel efficient per person. but then again, you have to figure out their typical number of passengers and see whether it'd be worth it. thats probably what made some people shut down the larger airline issue.

That would be awesome! 😀

"So Stan, should we hit up the tennis court or the sauna on the way to Europe next week?"

"Nah, I'm gonna chill in the pool."

One could only imagine how much international shipping prices would plummet once they start using the BWB for shipping. Over 5x more cargo in one trip, and lower fuel costs.

Maybe someday......

I think people have been dreaming about "flying cities" for a while.

I'm all for hovering cities, in case zombies ever rise from the Earth. They'd only need to hover 10 or 15 feet off the ground. And all the dead would be buried back on the ground. It's a good plan, just in case.

Ships move much more stuff than planes ever will for a whole lot cheaper!

The 7E7 looks very cool, and will probably put Boeing back ahead of Airbus. Unofortunately, Airbus made the silly mistake of building the A380 so big that it can't be handled by by most major airports. In fact, only 16 are scheduled to handle it by the time it comes out. The question of an emergency landing comes to mind when you can't land anywhere.
