There is always some excuse. They had House, Senate and Presidency, didn't get much good done either.
Reagan was the last President to do anything significant. Democrats have had House, Senate and Presidency control several times since then and didn't get much good done either. What's their excuse?

Democrats controlled the House, Senate and Presidency simultaneously "several" times since 1986? Link? What did they pass instead of immigration?

Actually twice...three times if you include Carter.

Why does it matter? Why can't we solve a problem we have today, today. Why seek inaction based on past inaction. This endless eye for an eye kind of thinking leaves us blind today.

As I see it the country needs immigration reform and all excuses as to why it can't be done are generated by party partisanship not the interest of the American people. It is Republicans who are laying down in the middle of the road screwing up the country.

Because neither party wants to solve the problems they have created.

Rather than working on a real fix, it is easier to point fingers and put the problem off as long as possible.

No actually, my point is that Dems actually did something positive with their 3-branch majorities, specifically financial reform and healthcare reform during their most recent majority. We all remember what Repubs did with their most recent 3-branch majority....2 wars and Medicare Part D, a far more limited and questionably positive record, to say the least.

Signing free trade agreements that gave our jobs away (clinton), and requiring people to buy a product or pay a fine? Is that the kind of reform you are talking about?

Or is the reform you talking about the banking laws bill clinton repealed that allowed the crash of 2008 to happen?

Both parties are guilty of crimes against the citizens of this nation.

- Deficit reduction act of 1993, which lead to balanced budgets under Clinton.
- Obamacare, which will cover tens of millions of uninsured Americans.

I dont really see that as a reason to stop reform. If Obama fails to enforce the laws passed by congress. It is his problem, not congreses.

It is only his problem if Congress makes it a problem for him, i.e. Articles of Impeachment and an actual trial in the Senate. So long as Dems hold the Senate, there is 0 danger of that.

Due to past experience I believe that many Republicans don't trust Democrats to keep up their end of the bargain regarding any future border security promises.

Whatever GOP does, it'll need to live with the consequences with Hispanic voters. Any time they waste is time for Democrats to make unopposed inroads and make lifetime Democratic voters in a fast growing demographic. So they can put it on hold if they want.

If Healthcare.gov is an example of success maybe its a good thing they didnt tackle immigration reform.

It works now, I don't see what you are whining about. It's better than most state run efforts. It's problems have been resolved much faster than those in programs Republicans support. F22, F35, Osprey, etc, still having problems after hundreds of billions in spending and many years.

Yea, who needs all those fighter planes anyway. Muskets were good enough in 1776, they should be good enough now!

They majority of hispanics have always voted Democrat...even after Reagan gave 3 million illegals amnesty. I somehow doubt that many Republicans are quaking in fear that immigration reform delays will hurt them politically among hispanics.

Republicans probably represent hispanic values better than democrats.

Hispanics are big on family values, most oppose abortion, and are religious. If you ask hispanics that are here legally, most of them oppose illegals.

The main reason hispanics vote democrat is for the welfare.

I see our local righty apologists have chimed in!

The republicans whome only seem to be concerned with winning elections (specifically winning elections in safe districts), dont want to move forward on immigration reform because they don't trust the president to enforce the laws they pass?

Sounds like a win win for the republicans if they were to pass something. They get kudos for immigration reform and for a "do nothing congress" that's actually a big deal. They might get more Hispanic votes as a result. And if Obama doesn't enforce the law they get to villinaize him and the dems from here on out (not that they don't do it now but now they would actually have something legitimate to complain about).

Once again though, republicans have shown their incompetence and their inability to lead. When they complain about Obama they are simply projecting their own short comings, its a play right out of the Karl rove play book.
