Happened today in the bobsled event. Here's the link to the full story and an excerpt:

--
Associated Press

PARK CITY, Utah -- Jill Bakken and Vonetta Flowers stood behind their bright red bobsled ready to begin their final, furious push to history.

In matching bodysuits, they stared out through the visors of their black helmets at the track and pounded each other's fists as if to say, "Let's do it."

And they did, flying down the ice chute at near 80 mph to stun the field Tuesday night and win the inaugural women's Olympic bobsled race with a two-run time of 1 minute, 37.76 seconds.

And what a great month to do it in (African American history month). I say It's about time! African Americans have had it very hard and they deserve to get some Olympic golds now and then for what they've been through historically :)

J/K Cheers to her for a great performance :)

Wow, that's good to hear.:) You might want to mention that it's the Winter Olympics though, as African Americans have won many gold medals in the Summer Olympics.

I appreciate your sentiment, but no they do not deserve anything because of what happened years ago. Those two people deseve the gold because they won the race, that is all.

I thought that was beautiful! I just finished watching it. She was sooo emotional . . . and I couldn't balme her. Contrast that with her teammate's happy face and smile. I could surely understand where Vonetta was coming from! (Good to add to the Black history in the month of February too? :Q ;) :D)

Now though, I couldn't understand from whence came the referee's call in the Short Track Speed Skating. That was a plain bad call--if not biased, and it resulted in the disqualification of the Korean guy--the actual winner--from the Short Track Speed Skating. That was plain bull. I call Apolo Ohno real cheap . . . he gets the gold he really didn't win. The Korean guy merited the gold. That is why I don't like the winter Olympic games! :| :( I wonder if some will be raising alarm now. . .

I watched it last night, it was amazing.

The commentators were talking about the first American team and how they were suppose to place but they did a terrible job (5.53 seconds off the line :Q)

This was the #2 team and they got the gold

Truly amazing.
