The long-awaited new album from Detroit rocker Bob Seger is slated for release Sept. 12, his record label said Friday.
?Face the Promise? -- several years in the making for the hall of fame artist -- will be Seger?s first disc of new material since 1995?s ?It?s a Mystery.? Various release dates for the album have been floated during the past two years by Seger?s camp, but the Sept. 12 slot is the first to be confirmed and announced by Capitol Records, his longtime label home.
There?s no word yet on a potential tour. Seger?s longtime fans, particularly his avid homestate followers, have clamored for years to get him back on the road. Seger, who has emphasized his interest in family time with his wife and two children, has declined to commit.
?Face the Promise? includes songs written and recorded by Seger and members of his Silver Bullet Band at the rocker?s rural Oakland County studio. The album?s leadoff single, ?Wait For Me,? will be shipped to radio stations before the end of summer.
