A few have said monopoly, although she probably already has it.

I just picked up the "Here and now" edition at Target last night for $10.09. It's on sale for $15.09 and there was a $5 coupon in the Sunday paper.

I haven't played it, but the mega edition looks good: Link

Another vote for Risk. That came rules. My friends and I have a copy of LOTR risk that is quite fun.

Clue is also quite a fun one.

Some I remember from when I was a kid:

Headache
Trouble
Hi-Ho Cherry-O
Yahtzee
Scrabble

Does Twister count as a board game?

Settlers of Catan.

Though someone before mentioned 3 players, it's best and balanced with four.

Masterpiece! Get a vintage version from the 70's. The old version had very very nice pieces. It is a simple game that entertained a group of us board game fans.

Most of these games seem like they require more than two people for a fun time. Can anyone recommend good board games for just me and a girlfriend?

Settlers of Catan w/Knights expansion ***Highly Reccomend***
Europe Engulfed (ok, maybe not what you're looking for but the best WWII board game I've played)
Pictionary (this should be played with probably a min of 6 people though)

But go to http://www.boardgamegeek.com/ to look at reviews and ratings for games. You can do it by category too :)

I always get tired of the classics quickly. Especially monopoly. Never once finished a game, even if we did the quick start option.

Also get bored with most tradtional party games.

About the only board games I can handle are things like Hero Quest.
One mission at a time, quick and easy dungeon crawling and then I go on to something else afterward.

Cranium is fun but if you get the booster packs of new questions, some of them are ridiculously hard its not fun.
