Board Game

Has anyone played a fun board game lately? Here is what we have:

Cranium
Scattergories
Outburst
Rummikub
Scrabble
Go

We love to play with friends and would like a new one but it seems that there are a bunch of crap games out there.

PSA: Whoever created that POS game Battle of the Sexes should have his toenails dug out with a rusty butterknife!

Blokus.

The ones recommended by JuJuFish are great, but a little tougher to get into when all you've been exposed to are party games and "classics."

Blokus can be learned in about a minute and is quite visually appealing.

yes yes and yes! These three are excellent. I'd give Settlers a shot as a starter one. Puerto Rico can be a little more intimidating to learn. You can go to www.boardgamegeek.com for ratings and discussion about games.

seriously. its all fashion and gardening questions for guys, and general knowledge for girls.

ah. Citadels is pretty good. also, Modern Art has some really interesting game play.

San Juan is pretty good

Ticket to Ride is fun and easy to learn, has a visually appealing board.

Clippers is pretty fun and is based on the premise that you build sailing trade routes (longer the route, the more its worth) and try to monopolize key islands.

Dos Rios is fun and pretty quick to play. Divert rivers to increase the value of your land!

I've gotten into Ticket to Ride lately. It's pretty fun. Carcassonne and Settlers of Catan are probably next on my list.

Risk is gay, do they still make Axis and Allies, that was a fun for a board game way back when. Also there was some hex based Dragon Lance War of the Lance board game that rocked.
