Board/CPU combo for heavy photoshop

I've been trying to sort through the various CPU/mobo combinations to see what the best price/performance I can get that will support heavy Photoshopping. Being somewhat obsolescence proof, at least for a year or two would be good too. I'd be lying if I said I understand all the socket/CPU combinations out there today. Also, would 8 GB of RAM be sufficient? Thank you very much!😕

What would your budget be for this combination and does it involve the CPU+motherboard only or the whole setup? 8GB would be sufficient for the intended purpose. I am looking at a SB processor and a H67 motherboard combo but it would be better to give a rough estimate of the budget.

Intel Core i5 2500 $210
MSI H67MA-E45 B3 $115
Kingston HyperX Blu 4GBx2 $90
MSI GTX460 Twin Frozr II 1GB $150

This should come to about $565 but alterations to GPU and RAM choices can be made as this is only a rough estimate. All the prices are from Newegg.

Thanks so much for the product selection! As it loks right now I will build this system for my daughter and I will get her hand-me-down system (dual core wolfdale with 8 GB RAM) to replace my dinosaur system (AMD XP 3000, ATI Radeon 8500, 4 GB of RAM)...hate to see it go 🙁 HA HA!!!

I was actually surprised to find out the 2600 offers virtually nothing over the 2500 in Photoshop. Tom's Hardware shows 1:35 for the 2600 and 1:39 running the same test for the 2500. Not bad... 96% of the performance for 69% of the money (my local prices).

The 2500's a great deal, in other words.
