I am buying a new 19 inch monitor for my gaming comp and want to try to spend around $350. I found the Dell P991 which uses the same tube as the Sony G400, but has a better warranty, for $367 shipped. However, it doesn't have a BNC input, only D-sub. How many of you actually use the BNC input? Would it be worth it to lose the warranty and spend an extra $40 for the Sony G400 or NEC FP950 to have a BNC input?

The bottom line with BNC is some people notice the difference while others don`t,I do notice the slight improvement on my LG 915FT Flatron using BNC,so the answer is it varies from person to person.

the BNC output isn't something you would want just for gaming. Of course they do have a cripser color and the resolution is a little bit better, but then again we could be limited by your video card. Plus the BNC cables for the monitor are like 70 bucks. And no they don't come with the monitor.

I did not notice a difference when I switched from standard to bnc. If there was a difference it was very small. I just did it because I got a free cable.

bnc is definitely better. on mine it's like night and day.. there was bad ghosting and dark spots with dsub.. bnc clears it right up. this is only at resolutions higher than 1600x1200x75hz tho..so it dosen't really matter if yer not running that high.

I run my monitors at 1600x1200 and I can't tell the difference between BNC and regular VGA cable. But like everyone else said, it depends on the person.

I think it depends on the video card, not the person. I am using the NEC FP950 with a Radeon AIW and a $25 BNC cable. The difference between the BNC and the D-sub was STRIKING in my case -- much brighter and better colors. I was frankly shocked! There was a rather extensive thread some time ago (maybe 9 months?) where people reported their results after upgrading to BNC when I posted my experience. You might see if that thread is still floating around (started under my name).

I can't say whether the switch from the Sony to the NEC is worth it for the BNC, but I love my NEC monitor and probably will never own another brand. This is my fourth NEC monitor, and they've all exceeded my expectations.
