Now that the price is in a reasonable range, I'm considering a Z3.....OMG, from a GM fanboy? Yep... :Q

So, tell me what you know about late '90's Z3's. Good, bad, what to avoid, what to get?

They probably are, even though they aren't all that fast. But then again so is a Miata. But both are girlie cars, with more emphasis on looking cute than hauling ass.

If that's what suits his taste, then fine.

But some cars just seem to appeal most to girls, & the Z3 is one of them.

Now if he wanted an M3...

No, I mean like that's what 19 year old girls want on their birthday, but can't afford one until they're 39 & wishing they were 19.

Z3 = Miata as far as I'm concerned, just in a different price segment.

As for the Z3...I've been in that car. I mean the car could be all that for the driver, sucks otherwise. Buckboard ride, nasty quality..expensive. MLAH

If you can get a good price, and if you don't mind having the "old" body style once the new ones come out next model year, definitely consider it. Comments from the peanut gallary aside, in reality my unscientific observations indicate that Z3 drivers are probably split 50/50 male/female. The only conclusion you can draw from that is that as many men as women enjoy tooling around in a very fun, well-handling roadster. I found that September/October is a good time to shop for Bimmers because it's the end of the model year for many of their cars. 6 months ago my dealer called me to ask if I was interested in an M Roaster, M Coupe, or 740i all priced well below invoice.

FWIW, you should check out an autocross event sometime, where you'll likely see plenty of people driving "girlie cars" spanking wannabe's who show up in their 300+ HP monsters but can't drive worth a darn 😀

95' Z3 :: $25k to $30k

could be lower... but most Z3's you'd find are on dealer lots and they like high prices
 
0-60 in 5.0 seconds isn't really girly. Top speed of 155mph is fast enough, don't you think? How fast do you need to go? 😛

Hell, even 6.8s 0-60 isn't that girly, but yeah, more girly than 5.0. 😛 5.0 is fairly fast though, that's pretty close to a Porsche, no? Would you say a Porsche is girly?

A lot of girls do like it, and I guess that would make it girly by that definition.
