BMW Q6.S Bike

Good deal. Not my cup of tea though. 😱

Anyways, most people here wouldn't get a mountain bike outside of walmart...

wow 25% below msrp is such a great deal. Of course 25% below msrp on a vidcard would be a good deal. Now that is sad.

If im gonna spend 3000 bux, im definitely not going to spend it on this bike. I would get something useful, like 3000 cans of bush's baked beans, or 3000 adult diapers. Now that's quality stuff.

I'm an avid mt biker and have seen this, the Porsche bike, and others. It's nutty that people would buy these thinking they are getting some deal because it has a BMW name and it folds up making it worth the price for some reason.

Go out, spend $1500 on a really nice dual suspension with full XTR, an FSR (or like) pivot design (single pivot is old, and one that comes apart and folds on its pivots is scary), and high-end, brand name shock and fork... and there you go. Lighter, better, cheaper.

finally someone who appreciates mountain bikes...actually, at this price, it should be titanium or a ceramic/aluminum composite. Anyhow, I think a lot of the price comes from the fact that it folds! XTR is great (I have mostly XT and some XTR), but I would expect a few more things for the price.

Anyway, nice find..warm deal🙂

This bike has disc brakes.
I don't like disc brakes for several reasons (I own an amp research b4 with disc brakes).

1) Hydralic fluid expands when hot. This is why cars and motorcycles have
resevours. Most bikes don't have resevours, so fluid eventually leaks out.
The old phil wood disc brake is mechanically operated, which is ok, you
just need lots of mechanical advantage for disc brakes.

2) You will note the front caliper is behind the fork. This is nice because
it won't bang into things. Unfortunately, it exerts a very large pressure
to eject the wheel from the fork, if the fork has open flanges on the bottom.
'Lawyer lips' won't stop the wheel from loosening, but will delay ejection.
Some downhill forks have no open flanges to remove the hub, but require
you to unbolt things to remove the wheel. They should be safe.

If you doubt the wheel ejection thing, a force diagram will help.
If the disc is 1/4 the diameter of the wheel, 100lbs of braking force
will produce 400lbs of downward force on the hub.
Or for a simple test, just loosen the quick release, and use the brake.
Do this when you are not on the bike, and be prepaired for the wheel
to pop out

Also disc brakes can overheat unless they are really big. My small amp
research brakes will boil water after a long downhill.
Rims are much better at disipating large amounts of heat.

I did mount small heatsinks on my calipers in order to help keep them cool,
but they don't do much good if you brake at the end of a downhill stretch.

Thanks, I've always wanted a Bimmer. I wonder if they take trade-ins at the dealership. Of course, my sedan doesn't quite fold up like that bike though.
