But a lightning is fun.
Kinda scary sometimes though, it really feels like it will roll easily... I can corner much more sharply in my daily driver.

so how is it fun again?

Fun for hard acceleration. Not what you want to drive on a windy road. You just learn not to put yourself in those hard handling situations.

Here's an article from ocregister.com (requires registration, I got it from another forum) about the crash:

CHP identifies car-crash victim

The man who died over the weekend in what officials said might have been a speed contest on Santiago Canyon Road was identified Monday as James O. Wimani, 19, of Fountain Valley.

Wimani was a passenger in a 2003 BMW M3 driven by David Huie, 20, of Huntington Beach, CHP officials said. The accident occurred about 7:30 p.m. Saturday as Huie drove westbound in excess of 80 mph nearing the Foothill (241) Toll Road, the CHP said. The car left the road, hit a utility pole, overturned and caught fire.

Huie and a second passenger escaped the vehicle; Wimani was trapped inside. Huie suffered major injuries, and passenger Jordan Foster, 19, had moderate injuries.

20 freaking years old driving an M3... No offense, but someone that young is PROBABLY not mature enough to handle driving a fast, expensive car. The fact that he killed his friend illustrates that pretty well. It's unfortunate, but I doubt James was yelling at him to slow down.

Guess I'll never understand the mentality behind a hotrod truck.

if this guy is excessively speeding wrecks and kills someone else it is tragic if he just kills himself then it is ironic.

No, I enjoy street racing a lot. It's just thrilling. 100mph on a 40mph road... your supercharger screaming, the trans am falling behind you as you dodge around a Honda Odessy...

If you've never gotten into street racing.... it's an experience. Oh, and it's fun to lose the cops (I've done it twice in the last few years.... heh.) I do worry about getting in big trouble though.

Uh.... You've gotta be fscking kidding me.

I call BS.

You don't "lose the cops" nowdays. I also doubt you have a supercharged automobile. You probably don't know a connecting rod from your elbow.

Everybody enjoys some friendly street competition every once in a while, but you're just plain full of sh!t. :)

You don't lose the cops if you're actually involved in a police chase, no.
The most recent incident it was late at night, about 1 in the morning. I was heading north on hwy 121 through bedford\colleyville\euless\grapevine. 121 has concrete dividers seperating 3 lanes of traffic, each way, for the most part. ANyways, I'm cruising along heading out to the home office in Plano (vpn service was out) I was going about 85.

Now keep in mind, I drive this stretch of road every day, although usually I hit the 635E split to go into dallas, where my office is. And thus, I regularly get tickets on this stretch of highway, usually 2 or 3 a year.

Anyways, I'm cruisin along, left lane, when all of a sudden my radar detector goes off and says "Laser!" Now those of you who use radar detectors know that while the kband and other radio waves go off all the time, but nothing but cops set off the laser mode. So then I see about half a mile ahead, sitting on the left shoulder is a car, and I'm thinking, fvck me.

Now I'm not some crazy run from the law type rebel, but it so happens that I've gotten a ticket THE SAME way in the same area about 4 months ago. But in a different vehicle. And I stopped RIGHT away, and even then it took him like 3 minutes to start his car and get out on the road and over onto the other shoulder. And he still gave me a ticket, and it still kinda pissed me off.

So I'm still going like 85 when I get up to the car, and I see his tail lights come on as he starts the car and turns on his bar. At that point I buried the boost meter. There weren't many cars on the road, and I was doing about 130mph. I know the area very well, and I just hit the next exit (Hall Johnson) took a left, followed Hall Johnson to hwy 26, took 26 back to 114, 114 to 121 North, and back on my way.

Damn, that took FOREVER to type out. Anyways, so it's not like I evaded the helicopter and 10 squad cars. I just never let him get close to me.
Wow. Well, there went 100% of the respect I had for you, Nebor. Somehow, if you were on the receiving end of another street-racer's negligence, I think we would be seeing a huge rant from you to the effect that SOME %@)(%^ MORON TOTALLED MY TRUCK WHILE I WAS SITTING AT THE STOPLIGHT!!!!!

I commute on a Cannondale touring bike. I drive it vehicularly and integrate quite well with people who drive autos lawfully, although even then I have to be wary... twice in two years I've been mowed down, resulting in the loss of a nice 18-pound Fuji road-racer, a trip to the hospital, and a couple weeks of recovery. Both collisions occurred because the other person simply didn't notice me, and both people were going only ~15mph. If you're even going 45mph in a 30 zone and paying full attention to the road in front of you, instead of the person you're racing, then you have 50% less time to figure out how to get rid of 225% as much kinetic energy if mechBgon pulls his Cannondale out into your lane, where he would be quite safe if you were going the 30mph speed limit. In that situation, I'm not the one with the problem. Get a grip on yourself before your luck runs out, kid.
