BMW M Models

Do you have a BMW with iDrive? I've heard a lot of BMW drivers that have it say that they like it and the problems are overblown. Basically they say that once you get used to the menus you can navigate without really looking at the screen, so everything is much easier.

To be fair, they could just be talking up a feature because they have it. I would just be very surprised that BMW would continue to put iDrive in their cars and have MB and Audi imitate it if it was really that bad. I think they are also doing a refresh of iDrive that includes a cluster of shortcut buttons around the knob.

IMHO, iDrive kinda sucks, even after using it for a couple years. It's not as intuitive nor as quick as a conventional button based interface, and requires more driver attention to operate. It's not as horrid as some make it out to be, but it definitely doesn't make sense on a vehicle that's supposed to be a "driver's car."

The problem is none of these stupid multimedia type of interface are very easy to use and drive
I have an 08 650i and I have to admit the iDrive is good and bad..but nowhere near as bad as the press makes it out to be

I look at an Audi and their MMI seemed worse to me

I would prefer more button options but given where cars are going as mini computers we are stuck
