You'll probably going to spend that amount to upgrade the 328 to a M3 anyway. What not skip the process and buy a M3 to began with. 😉

I owned an E36 325i. They are well engineered cars but expensive to fix and maintain.
Forget about it if the car is an automatic though. I wouldn't touch one of those.

That's a solid car, the M50 engine is almost bulletproof. The only issue you may have would be the water pump, if it's the old plastic one. Try to get a manual, the slushboxes tend to go at around 150k miles if not serviced properly.

the day i buy an automatic european car will NOT happen unless i cant use a clutch due to loss of the left leg, or other injury.
im still trying to figure out exact differences in the 328/325 and cant find that much.

I think the 328 is just a later model than the 325. One might have a 2.8l engine vs 2.5l engine, I'm not sure on that though. BMW hasn't been very consistent in the naming of their cars over the years.

From what I recall, the IS is a 2 door, the I is a 4 door, I might be wrong, though. I'd rather have the CI, personally.

yes, that is the difference, but with the iC (convert) are there additional issues to be afraid of that you know about? such as motor failure, leaky seals, common rubbing in areas, or what not.

The only leaking problems I've come across on BMW's are mainly on the newer X5's. We've never had a E36 in for such a complaint, so I'm going to assume they're alright in that sense.
