buy a sporty handling car --> drive aggressively. It's fun and that's the point. People sure don't buy them for reliability or longevity.

everybody knows this.

I always stop for crosswalks though - we live in a children/family-centric community.

You can having fun driving without being an absolute tool while doing it. Unless your definition of fun is weaving through heavy traffic, cutting people off to get one car ahead, etc.

Where is our resident M3 expert when you need him?

🙂

/whoosh....flies in.

/places hands on hips.

Well BMW drivers try to rise to when they can finally own the coveted M model. That ///M on your ass gives one full license to be a douchebag and get away with it.

/flies away.

My M3 is sadly sold. Didn't expect to have three dependents in my life right now, but everyone is happy so for that I am to.

There, there. 😀 It's not like they are saying all BMW drivers are jerks.
But if you have money and can afford "the ultimate driving machine", there's a good chance statistically that you will drive it aggressively because you can.

And when I say "you", I don't mean you specifically, just BMW owners in general. Which is why I pointed out the Audi thing, since Audi is the closest competitor to BMW model to model. Mercedes is another high-end German competitor to BMW, but they skew more luxury and aim at a different sort of driver, at least a bit.

I'd say more Honda drivers drive aggressively. Add in SUV/Big truck owners in second place.

I drive a 20 year old bimmer, bout as mellow and polite a driver as they come.

I have noticed a shitton of jerks in bimmers. 90% of the time it's a young person in a newish 3 series. If a female is involved in that hat trick then the shit hits the richter scale, can smell those bitches from a mile away.

Bottom line though, there are a lot of fucking assholes on the motor way, especially in los angeles.

I drive a B'mer. I've very courteous. But I drive aggressively too. Remember they are a lot faster and have a lot more pickup than most cars. And handle better. So what may seem like you are driving somewhat fast may be realllllllyyyy slow feeling to me. Especially around corners and turns or winding roads. And it may seem like it takes ages to sit and wait for your car to accelerate to speed or get on the freeway. Then if someone is distracted doing other things also it's insanity driving behind them.

Prius owners are by far the WORST. Oh my god they are all on a freaking sunday drive all the time and it's like they are senile 100 year olds. It's like they are all totally oblivious that anyone else is even on the road.

no, any car that has a canadian license plate on it more than likely has a fuck nut behind the wheel. Why those idiot border control folks allow those damn foreigners in, i don't know. i'd rather have mojados driving around than some hoser canuck.

I drive a blue BMW. And I drive pretty aggressively. And I get mad easily. I also am a cocky bastard.

Just wait until I get a Porsche

Me too. But I've always been like this on the road. And I certainly don't weave in and out through traffic. I'll fully admit to some pretty aggressive lane changes but only if it's going to actually get me somewhere. Doing all that to move one car ahead just causes unneeded stress.

F250 drivers have got BMW drivers beat by leaps and bounds though.

The upper-middle class is exceptionally deluded in their self-worth and see their time as too valuable to not try and shave every last spare second off of their daily commute. Combine that with a high number of Asians and Indians driving BMWs (as well as Audis) and it becomes common sense that the drivers are fucking assholes. And yes, whites in larger and new American pick-up trucks are bad as well, and because of the number of self-employed and relatively high-income contractor/mechanic types that drive them, it's for the same reasons as those in BMWs.

yes, it's true. Many Bimmer drivers are indeed jerks...but it comes from driving "The Ultimate Driving Machine."

No, no, it just appears I was doing it wrong. Over lunch I'm going to go buy a purple silk shirt that I'm only going to button half way up, get some Diesel jeans, some Ray Bans, and from now on I'm going to make sure my car is always at 4000 RPM so I'm in the optimum power band range to cut people off.

I just have to accept my fate, that's all there is too it.

Id also add I owned an Audi for 3 years before my current car which I've had for less than a year and I drive the BMW more aggressively. Its just more fun. You can take a curve a lot faster when your car doesn't feel like its going to under steer into a wall and kill you

I'd wager the funner cars in general are driven more aggressively. Though I probably drive everything like I stole it. Had a rental Yaris once and I made that fun

Maybe its just that people who drive cars made to be fun buy those cars because they want to drive aggressively. And they would drive anything aggressively. Driving can be fun, even if most people think its a chore

Lol at $30k cars being "rich" given that the majority of cockbags are the wannabes in barebones 328s and C200s.

Livin the MTV baller lyfe dawg!

Hilarious how around here in SW AZ every trailer park and apartment complex the parking lot is half low end BMWs and Mercs. Those poor poor disadvantaged "immigrants". 🙄

Are BMW drivers automatically considered rich?

Given how cheap you can get a 3-Series, no. They're not much more expensive than the crossover SUVs every soccer mom has. However, I think people perceive themselves as higher status driving them. This is quite evident in the ATG board, where members get really butthurt if you bad mouth the Beemer. :sneaky:

I drive my bmw on the right lane going 60 and yeah i see people fly down i95 all the time..
I also drive my hybrid slower at 55 on the right lane.

It actually doesn't matter what car but lots of 3 & 5 series, dodge chargers, dodge challenger, Lincoln town cars (taxi) and occasion people on a huge pickup truck. I dont see a lot of prius people being douchy here but i do see those prius road rage videos on youtube 🙂

I dont know about those guys but I think gas is pretty expensive to be flying 80-90mph down the highway

Anecdotally across the whole US, I would agree that BMW drivers tend to be the most aggressive douchebags. Around here though, the biggest douchebags are lifted full size truck owners (usually diesel).

I'm in a $11000 330Ci 😀 Might be why I don't have the "better than you" vibe yet.

BTW, I am between the age of 35 and 50 and have a blue BMW. But I suffer more road rage when driving one of the other vehicles (usually the pickup) when some asshat, which rarely is driving a BMW, instigates the rage.

These samples are too low for me to buy into it.

I can say the same thing about Toyota 4Runner drivers. They always seem to be in the fast lane.

But maybe it's because we're looking for that. It's like we have a bias against some brand or type of driver and we scrutinize them more than others.
