BMW 135i official pricing leaked

Autoblog has broken the MSRP for the 135i.

Pricing for the 135i starts at $35,675 -- very close to what's been rumored since its unveiling in Frankfurt. While that's certainly on the high side of things, it's not until you start optioning up the coupe that things get out of hand. REALLY out of hand. Tick the box for an automatic, and you're up another $1,275. Want the paddle shifters? Tack on another $100. The premium package boosts it up another $3,300; navigation with iDrive, $2,100. And on, and on, and on. The only thing missing is the price of the rarified air in the cabin, but BMW was nice enough to provide the windshield for free.

Bottom line: if you MAX-OUT the 135i, you're looking at over $52,000. Considering that a base 3-series comes in at around $32k (stripped), you'd better be very confident with your decision to be the first on your block to sport BMW's new hotness.

Wowzers. This is just too close in price to the 335i IMO. So much for my idly thinking about picking one up as a second car . . .

I dont understand where this car fits in, what niche its supposed to occupy besides the "New hot bmw" market. Once the hype and newness wears off, I cant see it selling to well.

It's nearly 10 inches shorter but weighs only ~100lbs less, so you get a much more cramped interior for what? Minimal performance gain? I would personally rather go with a 335i which would be more practical, get probably the same gas mileage, be just as quick and dare I say, looks better(though it's still not beautiful) for very little additional $$.

According to Kicking Tires, it starts at $29,375. I was hoping the 128i would start closer to $25K, and the 135i closer to $30K.

Not good. They should have consulted Bob Barker about this.

I agree with the other guys. 3 series is much better looking and more practical for not that much more. And both are about $3k to $5k more than they should be in this market.

I wonder how much of that price is due to the fall in value of the US dollar.

Pretty much as expected for 128i (Was expecting MSRP to be about 27~30k), but not for 135i. I was expecting around 32k (Price for 328i).

haha screw that. I was seriously considering this as my next car. Not anymore. Too many compromises for a mere couple thousand $ savings

It's nearly 10 inches shorter but weighs only ~250lbs less, so you get a much more cramped interior for what? Minimal performance gain? I would personally rather go with a 335i which would be more practical, get probably the same gas mileage, be just as quick and dare I say, looks better(though it's still not beautiful) for very little additional $$.

definitely not interested anymore.

for that money, i'd look at a used Lotus Elise or a new S2000 on the sporty side, or a Lexus IS on the luxury side. No stripper compromise car that small is worth $35K, regardless of the engine.

I had seen 100 in a review. Where are you getting 250?

he portly curb weight (3,440 pounds, or only 130 pounds lighter than the 3-series coupe)

http://www.automobilemag.com/r...09_bmw_135i/index.html
This smaller size doesn't manifest itself in a huge weight loss, though - surprisingly, the 135i checks in at a claimed 3440 pounds, or a mere 130 pounds lighter than the 335i coupe.

Curb Weight MT 3593

so 130-150lbs depending on whether it's a coupe or sedan.

BMW/MINI has one of the most extensive option lists in the industry.

Until the car goes on sale and is stickered, I don't put much faith in news on this.

People who actually like the way it looks (I'm sure there are some).

People who want the marginally better performance (lower weight, much better brakes).

People who think it's the successor to the 2002tii.

People who want a smaller vehicle.

There are plenty of reasons.

The 3 series is almost as big as the old 5 series.

Honestly, this new 1 series is needed to bring back the old 3 series' size. Everythings getting bigger.
