BMG gets a kick out of sending me CDs that they think I might like and charging me for them without my prior notice. I have the choice to send it back, which is good. All of the cd's they have sent me thus far I have purchased, except for The Darkness. However, when I get a CD I don't know what's on it. So I download the entire CD from bit torrent and listen to every track before I decide to buy it or not.

The newest one they've sent me, Iron Maiden: Dance of Death... Well, so far I'm not pleased with it and I may send it back. I do like Iron Maiden, but their newest CD is sort of...well...bleh.

 for mp3's saving me $10

Oh, and I won't keep the CD on my computer either.

Dump the crappy mp3s that you download from the albums you keep and burn them VBR or 384CBR from the CD.

I used to do the same thing with video games: download them, play them, dump them if i hate them or buy them if I like them.

I'm trying Napster 2.0 for a month -- for $10/month you can legally download thousands of CDs in 128 kbps WMA and play them on your PC, but to burn them or copy to a player (that supports WMA) you have to buy songs at $1 each like itunes.

For anything I really like, I'll buy a CD so I can add it to my lossless FLAC collection, but for things I like less the 128 kbps WMA is actually quite listenable on my Polk RT28i's. I'm also hoping it can save me from at least bad CDs I might buy otherwise.

They are going to have to start selling music for 25 cents a song if they want to compete with Limewire :D
A 20GB ipod will fit 5000 songs. That's $5000, 20 times what an ipod costs.
If the music industry doesn't keep up and make it affordable to fill up this useful space, people will go around them.
