Blurry pictures of stuff you're selling

At least you usually get a picture of the actual item. A lot of online stores aren't any better, and on top of that they don't always show the right picture. I like it when online sellers offer multiple high res (or at least medium res) angles of a product.

NewEgg is usually pretty good about this. If you look at a TV or something they'll almost always have a close up of all the inputs and outputs. Other places aren't as good with the pictures.

i think its more common with craigslist because the craigslist picture host resizes the picture to be extra small and fuzzy. i always have to find a third party host to put up normal resolution clear pictures.

Yeah, Craigslist is annoying. Most people don't know how to put up high resolution images. Hell, last time I posted an ad there I got a couple people emailing me just to ask how I did it.

It sucks if you're looking to buy and most of the sellers have shitty pictures. Then again, it's great if you're selling something; good way to help you stand out from the crowd.

lol. I don't know how anyone could fuck up a picture that bad. In windows picture viewer there's buttons at the bottom that will rotate the picture and save it like that. MS Paint can rotate things too.

This re-encodes the image in most cases and results in quality loss, even though it's possible to rotate JPGs without re-encoding. Rotating is still quick and nearly instant, and most people don't notice the quality loss.

The lossless method only works with JPEGs that have dimentions that are some multiple of 16 (or 8 or something). Though this does apply to just about all camera pics.

16 would make sense. Colors are often described as base 16. Back in 01 when we did html coding in notepad, I remember specifying text colors as things like #FFFFFF.

One step further is the idiot realtors that takes bullshit pictures of houses and post them to the mls. I've seen pix with pets,dirty clothes all kind of shit for house that list for half a mill.

FYI this is the Midwest where half a mill gets you something pretty sweet..

You have to realize that they more than likely expressed that this would be bad yet at the same time it's the customer's perogative.

This, I know (that's why I mentioned it).

Almost every photo management program that rotates JPGs will re-encode every single time...even when the properties of a particular JPG allows loss-less rotation.

Even worse, iOS photo rotation apps add lossy compression when you just want to rotate a PNG SCREENSHOT.

The realtor is an advocate for the customer and should, in their best interest ask them to clean up.. My suspicion though is 9 times out of 10, the realtor does not have the level of detail to notice such things. How is a pic of a literally the corner of a living room a selling point?

Which isnt such a bad thing except everybody has one.
This is especially bad with teenage girls.

Tried the tutorial for this picture a long time ago. Pretty complex and very nice detailed.
As for pictures I remember i was on the verge of buying a player once based on the photo which was a little blurry.
When I've found the real gadget: surprise "touchscreen all f__ed up"

Sometimes the customer provides their own shots, sometimes there simply are not any good shots to use.

While the realtor can make a suggestion, they can't force anything.

Have you bothered to look at those same houses? Chances are they look like pigstys even during an open house.

Especially today, not all listings are people really wanting to sell.

yeah in some cases you are correct about them being pigstys...

and you're right about the customer supplied images. some sites go as far as labeling them as such.

I see a gun I want online. it looks like it's in good condition compared to the others and at a price that I like, but the pics are blurry so it's had to tell if it really is in good condition. the description was also very poor as well.

I emailed the seller asking questions and for better pics but have yet to get a response. The auction ends today.

I'd hate to lose out on it if it really is what i think it is.
