why mention blue at all?? means nothing to the consumer. Use the term Hi-Def or HD. That way the jump in technology is more self-evident.

HD-DVD is the optimal name from a marketing standpoint, IMO. People know DVDs, and they know that HD is the future, so naturally HD-DVD is a pretty self-evident term that will spark interest.

Doh, I forgot most consumers have no idea what Blue Ray is. Well, the Blue Ray people have to suck it up and use HD-DVD as the official name then.

I think Bluray would be easier, example: Do you have it on BluRay or just DVD ?

Call someone and ask: Do you have it on HD-DVD or DVD ?


I bet a lot of noobs will get confused with names that sound very similiar.

HD-DVD is the most approriate name, but its a bit of a mouthful. I prefer HDVD, or HDV, or even DVD2.
