I got a doohickey from Best Buy for $19. I get occasional drop between receiver and broadcast. Is there a difference in other broadcasters?

I have been using a bluetooth USB nub as well I got for like $3 at newegg for my PC downstairs paired with a Logitech PS3 keyboard for the past 7 years.
