Definition: Chip technology enabling seamless voice and data connections between a wide range of devices through short-range digital two-way radio. It is an open specification for short-range communications of data and voice between both mobile and stationary devices. For instance, it specifies how mobile phones, WIDs, computers and PDAs interconnect with each other, with computers, and with office or home phones.
The promise of what Bluetooth can do, I LOVE it. The ACTUALITY of how much of a PAIN IN THE BUTT it can be to actually setup, I HATE it....
Maybe a part of the reason that Bluetooth hasn't taken off is that though it SEEMS like an easy enough technology for communicating between devices, the actual setup procedures syncing or just about anything to be done between PC and Device (Phone to wireless earpiece was nice and easy though) is a PAIN IN THE RUMP!...And the documentation that comes with Bluetooth items is MINDBOGGLINGLY scarce (thank god for the Internet and Forums for help).
I mean, when you hear about 'Bluetooth' nobody bothers to tell you about having to deal with setting up 'Bluetooth enabled Serial Ports' and/or COM ports and 'pairing' items up and that sometimes you have to turn off any extra Bluetooth enabled items so 1 thing doesn't mistakenly try to sync with another (I recently got a Bluetooth CF card for my PocketPC, I have to disable Bluetooth on my Cellphone before I try to sync my PPC with my PC...Otherwise the PPC will try to sync to the phone instead).
Its' taken some time to adjust and learn the idiosyncracies and there are things that still refuse to work properly...I still love the hope of what Bluetooth CAN do, but if it's ever going to be THE thing, it's going to need a few revisions and QUICK.
