Bluesky goes into high gear as users flee X

It's amazing but the people on blue sky can actually form coherent sentences with good grammer.

Not just click bait with ridiculous shit looking for "engagement"!

Edit: BTW for anyone here who wants to stay in touch on bluesky just incase something happens to this forum:

As far as I can tell, no, there's a different company with a very similar name (Bluesky Digital Assets) but the Twitter-like site is not publicly traded based on what I looked up.

Yeah that's what I thought as well!

In a way I want it to stay private so we can avoid the Elon shit show again!

I thought BTCWF was their stock, but it might not be. Looks like that is some crypto company, which also explains their recent rise.

The same, but I don't get what the deal for either is.

Well if you're into a sports team.. it's better than subscribing to a bunch of places that want money for inside info.. you get fan accounts posting the same stuff.

Same things for politics but I try and avoid politics on it.

But I do tend to follow some science accounts.. maybe telescope accounts.. stuff that'll relax my mind etc.

It's better than reading the news page sometimes.. unless your team loses!

I signed up too.

Never had twitter so this is new to me.
I wonder if bluesky will have an influx of the magarats trying to discredit it.
Or even elmo for that matter.

Still a lot of businesses, journalists, government officials use X extensively. For practical purposes they may not want to leave or dont care about Musks antics or policies. And there are around 400 million X users so too early for BS to make much of an impact.

Every time I see the word Bluesky it just reminds me of Joss Whedon's Dollhouse because of that one episode where a character had 'Blue Skies' as a catchphrase.

There is a great divide and radicalization in Politics in every country. (Maybe except Japan) So what is happening in United States is/was already in discussion of Twitter being under the influence of Musk and/or Local Governments (by Trollfarms/Bots) so BlueSky has a potential of 60 - 80 Million users, whereas their departure of Twitter/X will make that forum less interactive and more of an echo chamber. So this movement is timely and has a chance to be permanent

Not sure if this isn't Mastodon all over again. There was huge hype, and then everything died out pretty quickly.
